Vice President - Bernadette Veitch

Bernadette has had a long association with The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, receiving her 45 year pin in 2022.  Having worked with several Catholic Agencies, initially, she “thought it would look good on her resume”, not knowing how the CWL would become an important part of her life.

From her home parish of St. Paul Basilica in Toronto, St. John the Evangelist in Whitby, St. John the Evangelist in Flinton, St. John the Apostle in Kingston and Blessed Sacrament in Amherstview, she has been an active member. Bernadette held the President’s position in Flinton and St. John’s in Kingston and twice in Blessed Sacrament, Amherstview.

She was appointment to the Kingston Diocesan Council as Region One Representative, which gained her valuable experience and networking skills. She has also held Education and Health and Community Life Chairs on the Diocesan Council. She has the pleasure of working with the former Spiritual Advisor, Fr. Dale Wright during most of his term.

During life’s ups and downs, she has always been able to count on her Sisters in the League for prayers, support, guidance and friendship.

Secretary - Michelle Morrow

Michelle was born in Sudbury and raised in Brockville, the oldest of three girls. While attending high school she worked at Loblaws continuing there for a number of years until she finished her college program in the Information Technology field at St. Lawrence in Brockville. After graduating college in 1991, she moved to Ottawa and the area working at a number of different government departments and companies providing IT support in various ways until her retirement in 2023.

While in the Almonte area, Michelle attended Holy Name of Mary Church and became involved in several ministries. She has served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister as well as joining the choir there. She also joined the CWL in Almonte and was made president after just two years as a member. After her term as president of the local council, she was appointed to the Ottawa Diocesan Council as the Education & Health chair for almost two years. She then became the Recording & Corresponding Secretary for her next term on Diocesan Council. In the third term, she was to be the Treasurer but had to step down after only a few months due to unforeseen circumstances. After several years of being away from the CWL, she came back and was appointed as the Recording & Corresponding Secretary in 2019, holding that position until the convention elections in May of 2022.

In the early spring of 2022, after the passing of her spouse Bernie, she moved back to Brockville where her parents and daughters still live. Michelle has two daughters who each have two daughters.

Michelle attends St. John Bosco Church where she transferred her CWL membership and was made president of that council in the fall of 2022. Since being back to Brockville, Michelle has once again become involved in the Lectors and choir at St. John Bosco.

Treasurer - Mary Lou Hills

Mary Lou joined The Catholic Women’s League of Canada after responding to an invitation to attend a general meeting at Our Lady of Lourdes Council in Kingston on Women’s Health Issues. That was 25 years ago.  She joined The League because it offered Catholic women a means to voice their concerns, its service to the parish community and its commitment to Social Justice. Diocesan Retreat Days afforded her the solitude and peace reminiscent of her years as a high school student at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mankato, Minnesota and at The College of St. Teresa, in Winona, Minnesota where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology. She later put to good use her background working as a Child Welfare Officer and Juvenile Offender Officer in Edmonton, Alberta, Social Worker for the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston and Social Worker for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Her second career was as an Administrative Assistant with the Correctional Service of Canada from which she retired in 2012.

Immediately after joining the League she took on the role of Recording Secretary and then served for four years as Co- President on the council at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. After serving as Past President she took a brief hiatus, later transferring her membership to Blessed Sacrament Parish Council since she and her husband had moved to Amherstview. Again, she took on the role of Recording Secretary, President and now again as Recording Secretary – all in the span of 8 years. In 2019 she was appointed to the Diocesan Council as Recording Secretary and is now the Diocesan Treasurer. She is committed to contribute to the reorganization and restructuring of The League because she sincerely believes in its core values. She has always treasured her sisters in The League – who supported her through her bout of cancer and at the death of her husband of 49 years in 2016.  She is a Lector at Blessed Sacrament Parish and was in the choir at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Faith Committee - Annette Meadows

Annette was born in Windsor ON, but grew up near Port Hope and Cobourg. She is the youngest of 8 children. After completing her college education, she moved to Ottawa to work for the Canada Border Services Agency for 17 years. She was medically retired in 2006. She moved to Carleton Place, where she currently resides since 2005.

Annette is active in her parish with the music and Lay Apostolate minisitries.

She is also active with the CWL. Since joining in 2011, she has held several positions on council.

Annette is serving her second term on the Kingston Diocesan Council Faith and has graciously agreed to also take on the role of Webmaster.

In her spare time, you can find Annette with her 4 grandkids or watching the Toronto Blue Jays or Ottawa Senators with her dogs nicely nestled on her lap.

Past President/Historian - Lyne Tuepah

Lyne was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up in a French Catholic family, the oldest of six children. She worked at Bell Canada for 37 years; during that time met her husband Dale, who also worked at Bell. They were married in 1990, lived in Tamworth, moved to
Ottawa, then moved Kingston for 14 years before returning closer to home in the summer of 2020. Both Lyne and Dale are now retired in Carleton Place and spend their time volunteering and at Ottawa Senator games.

Lyne coordinates the Adult Faith Formation ministry at her parish, St. Mary’s, is the chair for the pastoral council and editor of their monthly ‘Living Our Mission’ newsletter.

Lyne found The Catholic Women’s League late in life, likely due to belonging to a French church growing up. There is no CWL in the French churches, at least not hers. While living in Kingston and attending St. Paul the Apostle church, she discovered the CWL and joined in 2014 where she immediately accepted the role of President-Elect. Lyne served her term as President and halfway through her Past-President term, was asked to join the Kingston Diocesan council as the Communication chair. She also took on the webmaster accountability for the Diocesan website. She then was elected as 2 nd Vice President / Spiritual Development. In 2022, she accepted the role of Diocesan President for the 2022-2024 term and adopted a theme of ‘Reconnect’. She is currently the Past President / Historian for the Diocesan council. She feels blessed that she found this wonderful organization and so many new faith-filled sisters.

Spiritual Advisor - Father Stéphane Pouliot

Father Stéphane Pouliot was appointed as the spiritual advisor to the Diocesan Executive of the Catholic Women’s League in May 2022 by Archbishop Mulhall for a 5-year term. Father Stéphane was born on June 3 1974 and was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on May 24 2003 by Archbishop Anthony Meagher, archbishop of Kingston, in Ontario. He is currently the pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Carleton Place where he was appointed by Archbishop Mulhall on August 16th 2022.
